About Zoncoalitie

Together, we ensure that every large roof in the Netherlands is used to generate solar energy. How do we help property owners and municipalities realise more solar power projects?

Our story

The association of Zoncoalitie (Dutch for “Sun Coalition”) was initiated in 2016 by the City of Amsterdam and Alliander, under the banner of Amsterdam Smart City. The association's goal is to stimulate the market for solar energy in order to contribute to accelerating the energy transition. In 2017, the project office of Zoncoalitie was set up at arm’s length from the association. Its purpose is to provide property owners with independent information about the possibilities and advantages of solar power.

The advisors of the project office are completely independent, and therefore not connected to the members of the association. They apply for subsidies, give independent advice on the choice of an operating model and carry out feasibility studies. This results in a project report on the basis of which providers can then make offers. Afterwards, the property owner can choose the most suitable provider from comparable offers. The property owner can also nominate providers himself. In addition, the members of the association are always given the opportunity to submit a tender.

Zoncoalitie focuses on roofs of about 500 m2 with a large consumption connection, often owned by real estate investors or funds.

Zoncoalitie is the independent platform for advice and development of solar power projects on commercial and public real estate.

Zoncoalitie team

At Zoncoalitie, we work together to accelerate the energy transition. We are a young and fast-growing organisation within the solar energy and real estate sector. As an independent platform, we give advice and develop solar power projects on commercial and public real estate. Our team helps companies, property funds and municipalities throughout the Netherlands to realise solar power on roofs of 500+ m2.

We want to make solar the standard on commercial and public property, and we work hard to achieve this every day. We are a close-knit group of colleagues and our office is located in Amsterdam near Olympic Stadium.
